How to play

  1. Start at 501 and reach exactly zero. Each visit allows three darts. Play solo or choose an explicitly computer-controlled opponent at Rookie, Club or Expert level.
  2. Drag on the board to aim, hold briefly and release. A quick tap only sets your aim; press Throw when ready. You can also aim with the arrows and throw with Space or Enter.
  3. The visible reticle gently sways as you aim. Your dart lands at that reticle when you commit; player shots have no hidden random penalty. Holding shows a magnified board view away from your finger.
  4. A single scores its number, the thin middle ring triples it and the outer ring doubles it. The outer bull scores 25 and the inner bull scores 50, counting as a double.
  5. The last dart must reach zero on a double, including the inner bull. Going below zero, leaving one or reaching zero without a double busts the whole visit: its starting score is restored and the next visit begins.
  6. A possible checkout appears when you can finish with your remaining darts. It is a legal route, not a promise of landing the shots. CPU opponents use independent seeded aiming dispersion; they do not secretly adapt to your score.
  7. Completed visits save on this browser when storage is available. Leaving mid-visit returns to that visit's beginning. A winning leg earns 5000 minus ten times your dart count, with a minimum of one point. Personal bests stay separate for solo and each CPU level; a lost CPU leg earns zero.
  8. The game uses a fixed 3D board, with a 2D compatibility view if WebGL is unavailable. There are no online opponents or public leaderboard. No account or download is needed.

Darts 501 tips and strategy

  • Plan the double you want to leave before throwing the last dart of a visit. A high score is less useful if it creates an awkward checkout or a bust.
  • Use solo practice to learn aiming and release timing on the same input device. Touch, keyboard and mouse control feel different, so compare like-for-like attempts when judging your accuracy.
